Who Can Apply for Moldova Medical Treatment Visa – D/TR?

The Moldova Medical Treatment Visa may be issued to third-country nationals travelling to Moldova for:

  • Long-term medical treatment
  • Medical therapy
  • Rehabilitation
  • Treatment at an eligible public medical institution
  • Treatment at an eligible private medical institution

The applicant must have a Letter of Acceptance from the relevant medical institution, specifying the applicant’s diagnosis and expected duration of treatment.

In addition, a companion may also qualify for a D/TR visa when the patient is unable to care for himself or herself and the need for assistance is expressly mentioned in the medical institution’s acceptance letter.

The visa category is classified as Type D/TR – Medical Treatment.

Although it is called a Long-Stay Visa, a Moldova Type D visa permits entry and stay for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Where applicable, the applicant should complete any further immigration or residence formalities required for the treatment period.

Very Important Regarding the Medical Acceptance Letter

A Moldova D/TR application should be supported by a genuine Letter of Acceptance from a public or private medical institution in Moldova.

The acceptance letter should clearly confirm:

  • The patient’s acceptance for treatment
  • The relevant diagnosis
  • The expected treatment or therapy
  • The expected duration of treatment

If a companion is required because the patient cannot care for himself or herself, this should also be expressly mentioned in the acceptance letter.

An ordinary:

  • Doctor appointment
  • Hospital enquiry
  • Email conversation
  • Medical quotation
  • General invitation letter

should not automatically be treated as sufficient evidence of acceptance for long-term medical treatment.

Very Important Regarding the IGM Invitation

For Bangladeshi applicants applying for D/TR, the current VFS requirements state that the invitation must be issued by Moldova’s General Inspectorate for Migration (IGM).

Therefore, the hospital acceptance letter does not by itself replace the required IGM Invitation.

Both documents serve different purposes:

  • Medical Institution Acceptance Letter – confirms the treatment
  • IGM Invitation – satisfies the applicable immigration invitation requirement

Sticker Visa cannot issue or arrange an IGM Invitation from Bangladesh.

Moldova Medical Treatment Visa Processing Time

According to the current VFS Global information for applications from Bangladesh, the indicative processing period is:

Minimum 10–15 working days

However, processing time may increase depending on:

  • Verification of the medical institution
  • Verification of the treatment and medical documents
  • IGM documentation
  • Applicant’s medical circumstances
  • Companion application, where applicable
  • Additional documents requested by the Embassy
  • Further immigration or security verification

In addition, applicants should allow additional time for transit of passports and documents between Bangladesh and New Delhi.

Furthermore, the time required to obtain medical acceptance, treatment arrangements and the required IGM Invitation is separate from the visa-processing period.

Therefore, applicants should begin the process well in advance.

Moldova Medical Treatment Visa Fees

  • Medical Treatment Visa – D/TR: USD 94
  • VFS Service Fee for Bangladesh: BDT 1,965

  • Logistics / Courier Charges: Additional charges may apply

For Bangladeshi applicants, the current VFS instructions state that the applicable visa fee is paid by Telegraphic Transfer (TT) in US Dollars according to the Embassy’s payment instructions.

In addition, the visa fee is currently gratis for applicants up to 18 years of age, although applicable VFS and other service charges are not necessarily exempted.
